ALS CAREER ORIENTATION 2025

From Angelo, manager of our Catch-UP programs for out-of-school youth: “After completing their examinations and awaiting the results, ALS junior high school learners had the valuable opportunity to participate in a career orientation organized by DepEd Manila. [ALS: Alternative Learning System; DepEd: Philippine government’s Department of Education.] This event aimed to guide them in exploring their future pathways and understanding the diverse options available after finishing the program.

During the session, learners were introduced to three possible exit paths. The first pathway highlighted higher education, with representatives from various senior high schools showcasing their programs and inspiring learners to continue their academic journeys. The second option centered on skills development, where schools offering TESDA-accredited courses provided insights into vocational training and career-focused education. [TESDA: Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.] Lastly, the third path emphasized work readiness, equipping learners with the knowledge and preparation needed to join the workforce immediately after completing ALS.

Learners actively participated throughout the orientation, engaging with the speakers, asking thoughtful questions, and reflecting on their personal aspirations. By the end of the session, many expressed a newfound sense of clarity and determination about their future. With the unwavering support and guidance of their teachers and coordinators, they felt more confident in selecting a path that aligned with their goals.
